Hey Guys,
Just wondering if any of you noted a very odd object in the western horizon tonight around 7:15 PM. Below is the excerpt from a submission I made to a website:
"I was driving home a friend, traveling westbound on 16th ave NW. Approximately at the intersection of 10th street NW.
I noted an odd orange tiny cigar / small cloud shaped object looking towards the western horizon. The object was fairly large and stood out amongst a few other clouds. I pulled over at a Starbucks - as I was lucky enough to have my Astronomy grade Binoculars in my trunk. (Nikon Action EX 10x50)
Upon focusing on the object, I noted a large orange colored "top hat" style shape. Suddenly the object pulsated in brightness from very bright orange to almost completely dim. It did not appear to move, and simply hovered in place. I looked again with my naked eye, and it appeared only as the size of a small planet (i.e Jupiter as its been appearing in the East) Focusing again with my Binoculars, I noticed this time the object had a small metallic oval shaped core. It glistened, and then once again appeared to brighten in orange luminosity. (emitting - not reflecting light)
I let a friend view the object to verify. She also found it odd.
We viewed the object off and on for approx. another 3 minutes, until it was lost.
The strange part was upon first viewing it appeared almost like viewing an incoming asteroid - and was strangely eery. Only once I magnified the object did it appear to have the cigar / top hat shape (when orange and luminous) and then a metallic oval shape (when dimmed).
My first unexplained object, and must have been viewed by others with a similar view. I am an avid stargazer and am accustomed to star's and satellites as they appear over horizons. This was unlike anything I have ever seen."
(Shrug) I'm left a little baffled.
