Winter is soon arriving and with the max going into its second snow fall season I have decided this year it will get winter tires instead of using the Re-92's :thumbsdow

I have heard the Michelin Arctic alpines have a better design to last longer than the Bridgestone Blizzaks and both are excellent in snow/icy conditions

Ne one care to shine ne light on this topic on which ones they would choose?

:)

We had blizzakks on our windstar last year and it was awesome!

I'll probably pick up a set at the end of October

RE-92's are so fun in the snow!

alpine's are nice.. 1000 times better in the snow then stock tires, but still you have to be careful.

Never experienced Blizzaks/Alpines, but I have drove my CRX(which is somewhat low) last winter with Hankook W400's, and never got stuck, or slid.

Look into a set of Nokians if you are looking for snow or ice tires. I've got a set of studded hakka 1s on my car for winter and I just love them, simple stupid amounts of grip. The hakka Qs are excellent ice tires, the drug of choice of a lot of our local rally guys.

Nokian's are suspose to be very good.

I like the Pilot Alpins, they are very good. Pirelli W210 snowsports are also not bad but not as good a Pilot's IMO.

Don't get blizzaks. After you use them for a year, they become just like any other all season tire.

I have blizzaks on the mx3 and they were amazing!

My duddy had Alpines on his celica and they kicked ass too.

I guess you just have to ask yourself --> are you a blizzak or alpine kinda guy? :dunno:

Somebody get on the phones!

I heard costco has the best winter tire prices, but haven't checked any prices of brands yet.

After reading this thread, I am still not sure what tires are good. Everyone loves their own brand!

Yeah, I figured I'd try and get everyone to buy snow tires that are total crap :D

Seriously though, I really do swear by them. They are one of the best snow tires available. Its truly hard to go wrong with them, especially when in most sizes they are cheaper than both the alpins and blizzaks.

I know Kal Tire carries their full line, and usually has a number of the more common sizes in stock for most models.

Here's a list from nokian's website about all the places in alberta that carry them:

http://www.nokiantires.com/html/dealer_output.cfm?location=Alberta

Speedville can order them as well, their price might be better than Kal Tires, though I couldn't say by how much (if at all).
