Whats the difference between struts and suspension?

Cause struts is part of the suspension is it not? Is struts just the shocks? So when you upgrade the cars suspension, it doesnt include new struts? How do the struts and suspension relate?

Strut is a part of the suspension. Suspension is the entire set up on a vehicle.

Strut is the shock+spring assembly but suspension includes control arms, trailing arms, etc
