Basically what is not working on the computer is the battery and some power circuitry on the motherboard (according to the
technician who looked at it). Also, the LCD screen is slightly brighter on the top half than it is on the bottom... but it still works fine. Its not worth it for me to repair the entire machine, so I'd rather just sell it for parts.

Please PM me offers for parts or the entire laptop. Buy the whole thing and I'll give you a good deal.

I'm in Calgary, but if you reach me before the 4th, I can bring up any needed parts to Edmonton as well.

Thanks.

do you have the original recovery CD that came with it? I have the same comp. I need more memory, but I'm looking for a 128 chip, if you happen to have one of those around I'll buy it right now.

From repairing these myself I will venture a guess.
Without looking at the machine.....
The battery should run anywhere between $80-$100.
The board circuitry. Some toshibas use what is called a "power board". If this is what this machine uses it is a good chance the Power Board is done for and will need replacing.
I can get them from a company for around $35-$60.
Then again it might be something small like a rectifier or transformer on the power board. If you didnt want to get a full power board and the item is clearly diagnosable some techs may just solder in one new part....

Parts will run you between $100-200
However labour which is standard technician labour will be around $80/hr.
You wont have to pay to have the battery installed, but the internal circuitry could take 1-3 hours depending on the tech and his trouble shooting.
