HMS Astute. "Worlds most advanced nuclear submarine runs aground"

Not even two months in the water. Now who is to blame, the engineers who made the sub, the guy at the wheel, or the guy who made the depth maps.

Kim Jong Il is laughing his ass off right now.

Kim Jong Il will get violated anally if he does anything BUT laugh his ass off. It's like all the other political rebels today, all talk no walk.

Kim Jong has working subs. Canada has a couple.

Not like these subs are going to be used for North Korea anyhow, they are squarely pointed at the rest of the Euro states and an increasingly irritated general public.

France rarely points guns to the borders, they are more concerned about pointing them inwards toward the populace at the moment.

Karma for selling us those p.o.s a few years back.

How long does it take to get a tug boat out there to pull it out? Just call the Sub Club, rear fin drive submarines don't need a flatbed or anything.

It will take a while to pull it off a sandbar.

Thing is, that sucker is ridiculously heavy when out of water. Not just that - there is no mooring to attach a cable to, the entire submarine is silky smooth and supposedly coated with a thick and very fragile layer of stealth foam (just like the space shuttle)

They could strap it, but they would probably break off the coating (which supposedly is a good billion of the 2 billion dollars they spent on it)

You would figure that if they knew they would be docking in that area that they would have spent some of the nearly $2 billion per sub - into making a quality dock.

Its like parking a million dollar car outside. Hmmmm. maybe thats the point. Sabre is not just rattling, its attached to a paint can mixer, lol.

Depending on how much damage there is to it, the Brits might be selling it to Canada soon.

Brilliant.

The more damaged it is, the more likely Canada is to buy it?

Aww dambit. I wanted it to be stuck for at least one more day.

Cause you know that someone would try to spraypaint it overnight and put his name on a billion dollar sub.

Long range paintballgun FTW.

That might not be the smartest move, I'm sure they have a ton of security up around it now so no one can get close.

To get unstuck they should simply fire off all their topedos into the sandbar, that should shake it loose... :guns:

Oh its not smart, but I'm sure some IRA wannabe kid would have tried.

If the public can get close enough to use off the shelf cameras to take pictures, then the public can get close enough to paintball it.

"Cmdr. Andy Coles, chose not to force the vessel off the rocks, as that might have damaged the hull which is fitted with some of the most advanced acoustic tiles that make Astute virtually undetectable beneath the seas."

so hitting the hull with a paint ball gun will have the same effect as yelling into a stethoscope?

Now you are thinking what I'm thinking. Which is probably evil on a Rob Anders level.

They should have just coated it with sand, apparently it is even more undetectable.

That would be the joke, yes.
