Unlocked phone question

I need an explanation on something.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S. I have the unlock code application which spits out the unlock code.

I tried a rogers sim card and it asked for code and I entered it and it showed unlocked and "Rogers" on the home screen.

When I tried to make a call it said "not registered on network"

I want to take the phone to the states and use a different provider.

What exactly do I need to do so it will work in the US?

Is my phone unlocked or am missing something here?

Try entering rogers APN settings. If you dont know how, google is your friend.

*#7465625# in the dialer and it should show all locks as off. If its not, then something didnt unlock right. If it is, your defiantly unlocked.

[off]

Network Sunset Lock
[off]

SP Lock
[off]

CP Lock
[off]

I assume that means I am good to go...??

ok cool.............So what do I need to do to use the phone on a us carrier?? a prepaid sim?
