I was wondering if anyone had seen a Flat titanium ring with a platinum inlay, as seen in the picture below, in Calgary? Tungsten with platinum inlay would also be fine.

I saw a simliar ring at Birks but it was $1700, online I've seen as low as $299

Thanks

Try bluenile.ca?

I know it is not in Calgary, but with the savings....I would personally wait a few days for my stuff to arrive, if it saved me 1k

Where have you seen the ring with platinum inlay for $299? Platinum is expensive.

The wife says we need new bands for our 5 year aniversary. I think my plain stainless one is fine, but if I had to upgrade, something like that one in the picture would be excellent.

I'm pretty hard on my jewlery, so I need something durable.

Tungsten rings are about as durable as it gets and they are like sub 100 on ebay and others. I paid lots for mine as I was not really looking for cheaper alternatives

Lol, first I've ever heard of new bands at 5 years. Yours must be pretty banged up, and hers not her style anymore.

Why do you need to find it in calgary? Go to a shop in town, get sized and then order online.

I got my fiances' engagement ring fro bluenile.ca, didn't like their wedding bands though.

I will by the wedding band online if I can't find it in Calgary.

Don't overpay here in town if you aren't in a hurry. These are cheap as dirt online and a basic titanium/tungsten ring has nominal metal value.

I bought this one below for just a tad over $200 CDN w. express shipping. Bought on a Wednesday, received it the following Tuesday. Good thing too 'cause I got married that following Saturday!

http://titaniumweddingbands.ca/catalog/detail?cid=791&pid=579

Anyway, the identical one with the platinum inlay is roughly twice that amount on the website. Shipping costs the same (free for standard shipping, or $30 for express), so it shouldn't be too much over $400 CDN. These guys are based out of Montreal so shipping is quick either way.

Check out Imperial Fine Jewellers, they have a great selection of titanium rings for around that price range. Plus you can try them on instore to see how they fit, if there isn't one you like on site, they can always order it from their catalog.

If you don't manage to find it locally, the site you linked is a great place to get it. I ordered mine there last year.

Tungsten carbide. I have a tungsten ring with a platinum inlay (not quite the same as the one in OP)... the platinum is banged up to shit while the tungsten is still flawless.

No to both. I think it's my iron ring that scratches it up when I wash my hands.

Another option for potential online source:
http://boonerings.com

I can't recommend him enough. Prices are very competitive. I got my wedding band from him (titanium, gold inlay). He's shipping out of the states, but had no issues getting it here. I made an order and he emailed me personally with HOURS that he was starting work, it was in the mail the next day. He's incredible with his warranty, service and very responsive. If you don't see something you like, there is a chance he can customize it for you.

I used TungstenWorld.com. They shipped to Calgary very fast via FedEx, and their exchange policy is amazing. All you need to do is get yourself the accurate size at any jewelery store in Calgary and order online.

Does anyonw know a place that does custom tungsten rings? I'm looking for something similar to this, but with brushed tungsten instead of the inlay and a 9 or 10mm width.

Kind of, but at least 9mm wide and no step at the edge. Just a flat pipe cut with a brushed strip in the middle.

Yeah thats pretty much it. Make that 9mm wide and the satin part the same width as the edges (like 1/3) and thats what I want. It's pretty much the same look as the one at birks, but just take out the platinum and replace it with brushed tungsten. I would destroy the platinum.

I bought my tungsten ring from one of the big ebay sellers for $20 (with $10 to ship it out). That was 4 years ago and I've worn it daily and abused the heck out of it.

If I look closely, under a direct, bright light, I can see 1 or 2 micro hairline scratches from when I scraped it against a brick wall. My friend bought a $500 Tungsten ring from Trew Tungsten (the high end brand) and he did the same thing to his.

The only thing I don't like about tungsten is that it's quite heavy, and in the winter, when my fingers are cold the ring has almost fallen off a few times. In the summer, when my fingers are swollen, the ring is perfect.

I've also got a titanium one that is much more comfortable to wear, but scratches easily.
