I hope you have a good relationship with your neighbors, according to bylaw these are illegal but they generally don't go looking unless someone complains.

Please tell me where you live ... I want to walk on your curb ramp, trip, fall, and successfully sue you.

TIA :)

Has anyone tried calling 311 and asking about this? I heard from someone in the States that their local city council came out and poured them a small ramp on the curb. Curious about it since my apartment curb is high enough to easily scrape my not-really-lowered car when it's leaving the lot.

Someone on here actually got their driveway lowered. Took months and was something like 5k.

Also in varsity everyone has them, there are rubber versions and the old steel ones I remember that were diamond plate sort of.

I wouldnt worry to much about it

Who do you think I was talking about. I didnt know if he wanted it really known. Although now that I think about it he did post about it in his Black thread.

Honestly they did an OKAY job. Not the cleanest paving and concrete job I have ever seen. Feel kind of bad. Dont want to complain and lose your driveway for another 3 weeks though.

Best thing I've ever done. I can drive a DTM race car up there and not scrape haha.

I went this route because as others have mentioned, installing ramps is against the bylaw as it fucks with drainage. I've got nothing but soccer moms in my area with tons of time, so I did it properly. Total cost to the city was $3500, but you can petition to increase your property tax and spread the payment over 10 years (your neighbors have to agree for some bizarre reason).

Process is pretty simple. Call 311, ask for it to be done. They'll send someone out to do a cost estimate, mark off where it starts and ends, and send you a quote. Send a check with a quote, and it randomly gets done over a span of ~3 weeks, so be prepared to go 3 weeks without being able to use your driveway. I dunno how the petition process works for the property tax, didn't go that route.

The city did a crappy job on the sidewalk, it's a fairly rough surface, but I've noticed most new communities are like that now. It just doesn't match the other sidewalks around, but I don't really care. My cars are happy. That's all that matters.

My curb is so high that I've resorted to crawling in at an angle...and that's in a regular old Civic.

It sucks having to remember to tell guests to drive really slow going up the curb. Believe me, you'll know if you forgot to tell them:)

I live in a tucked away subdivision in the County Of Lethbridge, and did call the county in regards to the curb. I basically asked if I could put in a ramp or use asphalt with a flow through pipe. Basically, their response was, "We don't give a fuck what you do, as long as we don't have to pay for it" lol

I guess anything goes when you live in a county!

I just want a quick and easy solution for this winter. We currently have 2 garages, one in the front and one in the back. My RX8 is parked in the back cause it cannot make it up the front driveway even at an angle ( lowered and aftermarket bumper). The problem is that during winter my car is too low to clear the snow tracks that's caused by others driving through the backalley and I would end up spending an hour literately shoveling half my back alley ( width of a car) to clear the way, so I just want a quick and dirty solution to part my car in the front garage for this winter when the weather is super bad.
