I was driving northbound on Blackfoot, when slowly approaching this thing. I couldn't for the life of me figure out WTF this abomination was. I was expecting some wierd Russian name, but nope "Dodge - Dart"

 :barf: I dug around a bit and found out that one was a 1962....
Alas this is proof of the hard drug use of that decade. wow...
the one I saw was appropriately finished in "shit brown"

This is the gist of it. The old guy driving it was pleased as punch with it shinny as a new penny. Whatever floats your boat I guess. :nut:

That thing is fucking ugly but I'd actually rather drive that then the new Nissan SUV that looks like a mix between an Aztec and Murano.

i always heard of the dodge dart as this 'awesome' muscle car from some older guys in automotive, but i guess the beginnings of the Dart looked like that monstrocity.

the Dart 'Swingers' are the sports version coupes i guess

There is actually a pretty interesting story around the 1962 Dart and the auto companies at the time.

It was basically the first "downsized" non-compact car in America.

http://ateupwithmotor.com/family-cars/146-chrysler-downsizing-disaster-1962.html

Unfortunately it wasn't one of Virgil Exner's finest moments as a car designer as he was unfairly blamed for something that engineers designed while pushing him under the bus in the process.

RULE: NEVER LET ENGINEERS DESIGN ANYTHING!

Always nice to see classics in good shape on the road

Edit: Even if they aren't the prettiest (this one aint that bad though imo)

the Dart 'Swingers' are the sports version coupes i guess the later Darts were like my car (although it's not a Dart)- I imagine this is what you're thinking of:

The regular Dart and the Swinger were the same body style (and then there was the Dart Sport, which was the same body style as the Duster)

My grandparents owned a Dart in the 60s, and from pictures I've seen it looks pretty sweet. :dunno:

Good designs are usually polarizing

My grandma drove a dart.

It was and is, a cool car, my grandfather had new one 1962 in canary yellow, stayed in the family until it was rear ended by a drunk. Automatic pushbutton transmission on the dash, no radio as it was an option and he was really cheap. He told me he bought it off a deaf guy who of course would never want a radio, being a child, I nodded the story seemed possible. Awesome heater, hub caps that covered the hub only and the ugliest interior seat material ever, freaking freezing in winter and off gassing vinyl in the hot summers. He used to drive it at 45 mph on the highway, old farmers never drive fast.

The Aztec has street cred now, after being in Breaking Bad.

I owning three 1959 Chevrolets will say that is one ugly Dodge. I'm not saying much, but I will say the Aztec is a future collectible.

I will agree when someone actually makes a Juke look like that. Till then, photochops are poop!
I think it may be the angle too, because the Juke's backside is not that appealing IMO.
