...and offers a matte black wrapped C63 with extra performance for a heft premium.

Facts: This is a new, UK-only ‘special edition' C63 AMG, of which there will be just 20, only available from MB World at Brooklands. It costs 10 grand more than the stock C63 AMG, you can specify either saloon or estate in either matt white or matt black (both of which are vinyl wrap) and the ‘DR520' tag points to a ‘Dyno-Rated' output of 520 horsepower, which translates to about 513bhp at the wheels. Even more impressively, the car has been ‘limited' to 187mph (that'll be just over 300kph in Euros), so you can be sure of beating up all those M3s with their paltry 155mph limiters.

Extra facts: a standard C63 AMG prods out an altogether respectable 450-odd bhp. There's an official ‘performance pack' upgrade available that peps that up to nearer 480, but the DR520 gets a new crank and pistons to lob power up to well over 500 - basically a Brabus upgrade but with a Merc-backed warranty and satin features. The rest is basically a performance pack C63 AMG (slightly bigger brakes, stiffer springs over the stock car), though you'll pay an extra £1,500 notes for the AMG limited-slip differential, which you'll need.

The experience is basically a C63 that pushes a good deal harder in the kidneys, but you only really get the full effect after 5,000rpm, when the DR520 steps up with the full trump card of supercar-wilting pace. Before that, you get all the ‘normal' goodness of a stock C63; easy cruising, excellent low-down burble, epic torque. The steering is excellent for an estate car, the brakes similarly competent, though they could do with a bit more bite within the first inch of pressure. Equally, the 7G-Tronic box is too slow from the paddles, so you're better off just using the ‘Sport' mode and putting up with it. _

Be aware though, this is a lot of power in a relatively small car. Traction off, you leave most junctions in a haze of tyre smoke, but if there's even a sniff of rain, leave the traction on. Other than that, you're looking at gentle understeer at first, oversteer later, slow in, fast out. Or slow in, sideways out, which is less fast, but more pleasing for spectators.

I wish we had fancy wagons here. Just makes so much sense, tones of room, so sporty....

Mother of god. The wagon is amazing (I never knew MB made a wagon like that).

The C63 Estate is a european model only. Jenson Button got his DR520 Estate back in August.

This is not an AMG special. It's your normal C63 AMG P31, plus a chip, and the Matte job done outside the Mercedes factory by MB UK.

I never understood the allure of a wagon. In my eyes they have the same sex appeal as a mini-van :dunno:

I've been saying that for years. I can't NOT look at my allroad (when it's on it's lowered setting) and think how awesome it looks. So fucking convenient too. I can fit 2x4x12's in it :D (ok, only a couple, but they still fit with the hatch down)

On a somewhat related note (but not really), all this talk of luxury wagons, I wonder how the Caddy CTS-V Wagon is going to sell.

I Love wagons. I'm never buying a sedan again. far more practical for occasional trips to costco/wal-mart/rona and to my eye, they look better too.

Audi and MB wagons are sick. Other brands still look like grocery getters/ricey hatches to me.

Pretty sure I saw rage downtown today, unless someone else is runing a matte black wrapped C63 AMG with dark tint.

The E60 M5 Touring - I've seen a few around here - they look and sounds amazing!

Favorite wagon of all time:

There are tons of SAAB wagons here that look nice - just not super fast.
The Volvo V70R is super nice too.

I'm a huge fan of wagons - I just wish we got the really nice ones here.

Generally not a big fan of wagons. Sometimes (like in the picture of that Audi RS6 or whatever it is) it is pulled off quite well.

In this case with the Benz, I'm not feeling it.

Yeah there was a wagon W203. I can assume it sold like shit, hence no W204 wagon. And even the W211 E class was available as an E55 here but too bad they're unreliable as hell, plus it's a fucking boat. I do wish they'd had brought the M5 wagon.

I love wagons. With a wife, 2 kids, and 2 dogs, and deep hatred for SUVs and crossovers (the Ecoboost Flex being the only exception), my choices in cars are severely limited, especially when one of my criteria is 250HP/TQ minimum.

About the only cars that fit that bill right now are the A4 Avant (why no manual Audi?!?!?!), the A6 Avant, and the (normal) CTS wagon. The CTS- V wagon is mighty, mighty tempting and just might be the ticket but I worry about RWD, 550HP and Calgary winter since buying a wagon means it's going to be a DD.

Another upcoming car to watch out for is the Sonata Wagon with, presumably 2.4T but for me, 270HP and FWD, a good recipe does not make. And Hyundai's are just too.. Vanilla, even with turbo. Basically a very efficient Camry V6 and who the fuck wants to drive that.

It's a shame that the huge majority of buyers in the US feel exactly like all the wagon haters in the thread.
