Here are the combinations to get the number "1" painted the nose of your favorite driver next year

Alonso (246 points) will be champion if:
- he finishes first or second
- he finishes third, fourth or fifth, and neither Webber nor Vettel win
- he finishes sixth, with Webber no higher than third and Vettel failing to win
- he finishes seventh or eighth, with Webber no higher than fourth and Vettel failing to win
- he finishes ninth, with Webber no higher than fifth and Vettel no higher than third
- he finishes 10th, with Webber no higher than sixth and Vettel no higher than third
- he fails to score, with Webber no higher than sixth, Vettel no higher than third and Hamilton failing to win
If no rivals score? Alonso is champion

Webber (238) will be champion if:
- he wins, with Alonso no higher than third
- he finishes second, with Alonso no higher than sixth and Vettel failing to win
- he finishes third, with Alonso no higher than seventh and Vettel failing to win
- he finishes fourth, with Alonso no higher than ninth and Vettel failing to win
- he finishes fifth, with Alonso no higher than tenth and Vettel failing to win
If no rivals score? Webber must finish fifth or higher to become champion

Vettel (231) will be champion if:
- he wins, with Alonso no higher than fifth
- he finishes second with Alonso no higher than ninth and Webber no higher than fifth
If no rivals score? Vettel must finish second or higher to become champion

Hamilton (222) will be champion if:
- he wins, with Alonso failing to score, Webber no higher than sixth and Vettel no higher than third.
If no rivals score? Hamilton must win to become champion

Deadlock: in theory, Alonso, Webber and Vettel could finish level on points at the top - a result of Vettel winning, Webber second and Alonso fifth in Abu Dhabi would give them 256 points apiece. Vettel and Alonso would have five wins each, two second places each and three third places each. Vettel would then be champion based on his three fourth places to Alonso’s two.

Hami went fastest in P2. I know that doesnt really matter but at least he doesnt appear off the pace yet.

The McLaren rear wing is finally working. A little too late unfortunately...

There's a good chance that Alonso might not finish due to high mileage on his engine. As much as I would love for LH to win WDC I doubt the Red Bulls would do worse than third for this race. Shoulds be a great race.

I didnt really catch the end of P3 but it seems that Alonso was P1 and Hami was P2.

That isnt good. :banghead:

Are you a time traveler? P3 doesn't start for 7 hours. You might've seen the end of P2.

Pretty bad qualifying for Webber, who is 1/2 s down on teammate, Vettel. I wonder why Red Bull decided only to do one run for Q3. Webber just couldn't put down a quick enough lap. We'll see what happens tomorrow... maybe the McLarens will take out the front two rows... Not looking good for Webber.

I expected McL's to do way better here. Smooth track, rear wing update, long straights. Lewis would've been in pole if he didn't damage his front wing from the Massa incident, and didn't make a mistake in S2 on his quickest lap (he was 0.1s down from his previous best).

Oh well...

If you watch grand prix debrief on speed prior to each weekend you would've seen the RB simulator for every track this year.

That is where I saw it today. Odd, I have watched speed debrief 3 or 4 other times and never really noticed it until now.

Just finished watching the BBC full race feed. Alonso didn't look too pissed when he did the interview with BBC. He didn't blame the team and said that it was very difficult call. A for Petrov, he said he was very aggressive but that's the way it is... he also said Petrov drove very well and didn't make any mistakes. I think he was just very frustrated... he can't yell at the team, so he took it out on Petrov... it was classic seeing Petrov side by side after the race taking none of it from Alonso... he even steered his car toward Alonso as if he was going to ram him.

That was the best season of Formula 1 I have ever watched.. And what a race to finish it off...

Congrats to Vettel on the Championship, and to Mclaren for locking out the rest of the podium, damn good way to end the year for them. Shame Lewis got stuck behind Kubica though!

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/15/italian-politicians-call-for-montezemolos-head-over-ferraris-f/

Some racing teams are just that – racing teams – and nothing more. Ferrari, however, serves as a national symbol. When things are going well, it serves them as such. But when things go badly... as you can see from this story, people in high places can turn on them rather quickly.

Reports surrounding the condemnation of Ferrari's unfortunate performance in this past weekend's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where the team lost the title that seemed to be theirs for the taking, are running rampant around Italy. Some cabinet ministers are even calling on Ferrari chief Luca Cordero di Montezemolo to resign.

The calls, which were denounced by Fiat chief Sergio Marchionne among others, seem to lead further credence to longstanding rumors that Montezemolo could go into politics. A popular and influential national figure, Montezemolo is descended from Italian aristocracy whose family tree includes admirals, generals and cardinals. A former head of business lobby group Confindustria and of the Italian Olympic Committee, Montezemolo recently stepped down as chairman of the Fiat group, fueling speculation of his imminent move into politics.

The latest reports place Montezemolo leading a coalition in opposition to Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, whose moral credibility has come into question of late and from whose cabinet the calls for Montezemolo's resignation have reportedly emanated.

LOL and the drama continues

I was at the race and everything from the GT3 Cup, GP2 and Formula 1 races were top notch. That track is amazing. They built it in 3 years. We met up with some members of the UAE Porsche Club and one of them is the 6 time UAE champion. They took us for a drive across the country in GT3's and Panamera Turbo's hitting 280 km/h at times. He got the call from Germany to drive for one of the GT3 Cup teams. He told me that they put down a granite foundation before paving the track. Must be nice to have money. It was 42 degrees celcius by the early afternoon at the race track. Ferrari really screwed the pooch on this one giving the win to Red Bull. It seemed like they were more concerned with Webber than they were Vettel. Petrov probably drove the race of his life to this point. It was fun seeing him block Alonso on the front straight. I tried to get Hamilton's autograph but the line was too long. Ended up getting the autograph of Neumi from the Torro Rosso team.
