Speaking patriotically.

We should be charging the US to protect their northern skies and our southern border. If our bond is that strong between our nations, they should be making this offer - especially now that they have excess air capacity because they are pulling out of wars.

I figure they owe us a hundred F-35's and should be paying Canadians $1 Billion a year to maintain vigilance for them.

Yes?

Aha I don't think we need any more reason for the USA to think they own us.

Only posting in the car forums counts as a post. Which I find it odd why Zenops orginally joined here because he never leaves this forum topic.

i was told the whitehouse.gov is the proper website. Not sure if that is accurate or not since I am still at work lol.

From my limited understanding the F-35 is not the most able fighter when used in frigid subzero temperatures... It freezes and falls out of the sky like an expensive rock.

Meh, let them think what they want. If we "buy" the planes - you just know that there is a chip in there that can disable the whole plane if it targets the US anyhow.

we could build them using a gold titanium like Tony Stark did, that should solve the problem.

That doesn't sound right, the temperature at 30,000 ft is well below freezing, regardless of the latitude the plane is flying at. You'd think they'd be freezing up over Iraq if that was the case.

I think this is a load too, because if I recall correctly, a large portion of the states gets pretty cold in winter too.

I wouldn't doubt the rumormill on it.

Probably a mix of moisture and cold, there is usually a lot more moisture closer to sea level. At the rate these engines suck in air, it would be like chucking a slurpee directly into it.

A lot of helicopters needed main part replacements every week when flying and landing through the sand in the desert wars.

Yeah, from blowing sand. Rotors and windshields were replaced quite frequently. It's normal wear and tear in a theatre like that.

My bad it wasn't the cold it was all the technical problems this jet is having. A class mate who apparently knows a lot about planes said the single engine design is not ideal for missions over the arctic. You obviously don't read very much on beyond.ca

Your classmate is an idiot. Single engine fighters are just as reliable, if not more reliable than twin engine. Would you feel more or less safe in a 747 vs a 777 crossing the Atlantic? The F-16, which is the best selling fighter jet in the world, is a single engine design and doesn't just fall out of the sky. There are back-ups and provisions in case of thrust loss. Fun fact - the CF-18 wasn't chosen because it has two engines over the F-16.

That story you list is from Dec 2007. Those issues have since long been resolved.

What the hell do we even want this stupid thing for. We should have the euro fighter. Way better

I kind of agree with you. Twin engine, flexible platform, etc..

And it looks oh-so-badass.

Heh. Jewish people know how stretch a dollar.

We gave the US a Billion dollars worth of free lumber not that long ago.

I would have used that as leverage to borrow a handful of (but definitely not 65) final production run F-35s to determine first hand what they are capable of.

I can't see Harper being able to negotiate anything for free, even from a burgeoning US military that is desperate to unload hardware now that they are not actively engaged anywhere.

What specific problem are you talking about?

The F-35 is not without its faults but you'll have to cite a source or be more detailed than that.

by that logic, we should be buying the new russian fighters, and probably get them at 1/2 the price!

Leave Israel alone! They have to contend with Palestinians throwing rocks over the walls. Then poor Israel is wasting bullets on sub-human pests like Palestinians. This payoff is like a pacifier to soothe the whiny team of Benny Yahoo.

If the US was smart, they would commission Canada to do all of their expansionism. We're the friendlier sounding name and country.

Commission, or hire as a merc.

Canada can always fall back on the Crown as an excuse. The Brits made us invade your country - sorry about that ol' chap.

If the Brits were smart - they would have a couple of years with Charles on the coinage, and start invading a dozen nations or so - and then move to one of the kids during peacetime.

If they can fight over the Falklands, I say Greenland is prime.
