What do you guys think about this amp?

A friend of mine is thinking of buying one of these off Ebay and just wanted to get some feedback.

He plans on running a single 12" Kappa Perfect from it.

It's essentially a reworked 1001bd amp designed to run at 1ohm stable. The 1001bd is a great workhorse amp, and the X6 is even better.

My advice is to find something less powerful. At 4ohms, this amp will output nearly 500watts RMS, and I don't think the Kappa can handle this much power. At 2ohms, the X6 will put nearly 1000watts RMS, and that is asking for trouble.

Perhaps something smaller would suit him better.

That's what I was thinking as well.

He plans on running it at 4 ohms and specs on the Kappa Perfect say it can handle up to a 1400 W max and 350W RMS.

your goin to blow the kappa.. even if your settings are properly set..
kappa perfects tend to blow when you go over the suggested rms power rating.. it also depends on which batch of kappas you got.. the first ones were weaker and couldn't take that much power.. but the new ones possibly can

why dont you tell him to get a jbl 600.1 or a 1200.1.. it pounds the infinity kappa perfect and it is so decently priced you cant say no

check out ikesound.com if you wanna buy the jbl amp.. cheapest place on the net other than ebay
