View Full Version : Whats your Epic/Funeral Song?

Dave P
11-30-2010, 02:52 PM
So you have either done something super heroic/epic, and need that perfect song playing in the background, or its all gone wrong and you need a song for your funeral that you want to make everyone cry hahaha.

Whats it going to be?

My dad mad me promise to play Sympathy for the Devil at his funeral haha.

Ill take this one for now. Name is fitting for one of the two outcomes haha.

Whats yours?

I want mine to be The Good Life by Weezer...even though I'm female I feel like it's still appropriate.

Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt would also be awesome, especially in 50 years when it isn't played on the radio 5 times a day

Same here, no funeral for me. Just a party yo.

Bro Hymn is a fantasic choice...that can be played over and over. I just saw them live a few months ago. Epic.

I would have to go with some beatles - Let it be, glass onion, the long and winding road. A lot of NOfx and maybe throw in some Avenged seven fold - bat country.

If I were from Los Angeles, it would definately be "In Old L.A. Tonight" by Ozzy.

Truly epic.

He didn't, he did a cover of it in 2002 though. As much as I've love the NIN one, Cash just brought that much more depth to it.

If I was going for the traditional funeral thing then I would choose this

Bittersweet Sympathy by the Verve would be a good choice too.
Or I'd go for some nice trance and turn it into a trance party thingy.

we played Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven for both my sisters Funeral, along with Sarah McLachlan, Enya and some oldies as my sisters were 55 - 60 year age range. I pretty much can't stand country music and my brother in law picked She's Everything to me...now I can't even listen to it without crying.

I also want to be proped up standing in the front of funeral hall holding a beer. Most people who know me know I am not a very serious person, and never like to see people sad. It will be an open bar event, and everyone has to drink at least 6 drinks, mandatory. Get good and drunk. And I am dead serious. I want people to have fun, fuck remembering me you're all still alive, go have fun.

You guys have posted some great, classic, funeral songs, but I think here's a couple that are just as great.

"And as we all play parts of tomorrow, oh, no, no
Some ways we'll work, in other ways we'll play, yeah, yeah
But I know we can't all stay here forever, oh
So I want to write my words on the face of today
And then they'll paint it up"

If you haven't heard this song, I encourage you to listen!
