swapping a 96-98 civic dash for 99-00

Is it possible to switch the front panel where the stereo and heater controls are?

Reason being is that i can only fit a normal cd player in there right now and the 99+ i can fit a double din, plus i liked the layout of the 99+ better

I got a 99 front panel laying around and the border matches so i dont think i'd need to do any cutting or anything but what about wiring and such? Anyone did this before and can give me some pointers?

the panel fits no problem
but you wont have any control over your climate control.

The 96-98 dash is all cable actuated, where the 99-00 is all electronic.

Changing just the face is a cakewalk, making everything work isnt.
