This saved my ass yesterday, just plug in the information and copypasta:

http://www.citefast.com/

It does MLA, APA and Chicago. No AIP/AMS/ASA or legal, though some of them aren't much different.

Newer versions of MS Word does this too, with no issues.

Saved my life during undergrad!

My grad school library had a program on the website that could bookmark all articles you used and turn it into a bibliography...made even Citation Machine redundant for me! :D

if you guys think that's cool, you need to get endnote. you can save your libraries, which will save you a lot of typing if you write a lot.

The version in MS Word 2007& 2010 is way better. It auto updates all your in text citations and also generates a reference list with one click.

^^endnote does that, too. it also has powerful search capabilities and imports from web (many sites have reference files directly in endnote format). i've never even heard of the MS citation manager, although that could be because it doesn't have the proper citation and reference formats used in my field.

What about write and cite from refworks? Works like a charm.

Bibme.org works well if you're in a pinch.

I hate citing, such a pain to do manually.

^^I don't know anyone who uses refworks - endnote is what the "pros" use.

^^ refworks is what the UofA supports/talks about.
I might give end note a try for my last paper though, I assume its much better?

^^probably because they have a site license for the software. (i.e. refworks sells licenses at a major discount to 'hook' students so that they buy it once they graduate.)

i've never used refworks before, so I don't know how it compares. (and, I don't know a single colleague who uses it.)

Guillermo what do you do?

I find it easy to use, and takes a lot of heat off of in text citing. Plus, being able to import google scholar searches directly kicks ass (you can do that with Endnote).

Either way, it is awesome to not have to go through the headache of citing/creating a bibliography manually.

i'm a scientist working in academia, so needless to say, I write a lot. i'm not familiar with refworks, or anything else, but basically everyone i know uses endnote. i'm not saying it's the only way to go, but just trying to give advice as others have done for me, heh!
