hey guys, looking at a 95 integra, dont know what model but it has a sunroof and AC if that helps. it is automatic and i heard they have some issues, but it felt really solid driving it.

my question is, its got 280k on it, the engine sounds really good, idles perfect and everything but what should i look out for? its got a maintenance required light on and he said the ABS doesnt work and the ABS light is on, is this a common issue, more importantly is it an easy fix if it is a common issue?

also, i have an OBDII reader, is this car OBDII and will the reader pull what the issue is out of the maint reqd issue? where is the plug for the reader? sorry for all the questions, thanks for the help.

maint reqd is just a timed reminder it does not mean anything is wrong.

Abs should also be easy to trouble shoot. Probably a bad abs sensor.

The last year for OBD1 integra was 1995.

It's most likely a GS model. The maitnence req. light is like a bug because my buddy has his glowing and took it to a mechanic and they did a diagnostic and no problems showed up, but the light went away, next morning showed up again :dunno:

so even if i had an OBD1 reader it probably wouldnt do anything for the maint reqd? how do i clear that and what maintenance is is timed for?

the is a blue button under the dash that you hold and turn the car on then release it or something. everything should be in those threads I posted.

check for smoke? b18s usually start to burn when they get older

i didnt check but ill do one more test drive during the day( was too dark and i wasnt familiar with the area to try and see if anything happened) have someone follow me and tell me what they see. how much is too much smoke? what is normal for a teg this age, if there is a way to tell....

I have owned several integras. Generally if they are not rusted out they are pretty good cars. Very reliable and cheap to maintain. I have not owned an automatic so you are on your own with that.

280k is alot but it depends on how long you want it to last you.

I would probably offer $1500-2000 for the car you describe.

does it have leather? were the mirrors color matched to the car or black?

ya i decided i will *try* and keep it for a while but im reallllly bad for switching. i sold and bought 6 cars and a bike this year alone. ( all personal use not flipping)

so if the engine does go, ill probably end up keeping it and swapping it out, possibly for a 5 speed as well, so thats no issue but i want it to be reliable as i have a kid that ill be transporting in it every so often.

just out of curiousity, what would it cost to rebuild the b18?

no leather, no color matched mirrors, what does that mean? lowest model?

found my own answer, it must be an LS because it has ABS, the RS doesnt and the GS always has color matched mirrors and moldings and this one doesnt.

I've had 3 Integras. A 1990, and 2 1998s. Both of my 1998 Integras were very reliable, and the 1990 was also pretty good. As already noted, try to see how much oil the motor burns. My 1990 had 217k and burned what in my mind was a borderline unacceptable amount of oil. Had to top it up monthly, the motor was the B18A1.

Other than that had zero issues.
