Looking for some good ideas for breakfast places to get gift cards for my dad (him and mom love breakfast places). Please let me know what your favorite (and possibly unique/fun) places to eat breakfast!

Thanks!

Dairy Lane is by far the best breakfast I've had in Calgary. Consistently good and the staff is always excellent.

Reds was great when it first opened but has been so bad the last couple times I went that I don't think I'll go back...

Eat-eat in inglewood is a great little place but I doubt they'd have a giftcard available. Still, a recommendation and a bit of cash is the same idea I guess.

Heartland Cafe in Okotoks.

Beautiful old renovated church with incredible food. Well worth the fifteen minuet drive, and unlike most places in Calgary you can actually get in. Also a Cora's in Okotoks that unlike Calgary you can walk right in, but I don't think it's in the same league as Heartland.

Going to the Deane House this morning for brunch. They have a great brunch menu and a great setting for Sunday brunch next to the river. It is by Fort Calgary in Inglewood. The in-laws love it there as well!

+1 for Eat Eat in Inglewood. Awesome breakfasts.

If they want something lighter, like coffee and muffins, Wilderness Cafe in Inglewood is quite good as well.

Whenever I am in Calgary I usually stay at the Sheraton Eau Claire Sheraton. After drinking I stumble over to the 1886 Buffalo Cafe. I am pretty addicted to their breakfast burrito's. Not sure how good they actually are though since I am either still drunk, or hung over when I go there.

+1 for Carriage House! Man, I love filling up on the Belgium Waffles with unlimited fixings. I put whipped cream on that mofo like I'm building the empire state building out of it, and smother it with strawberry sauce and some syrup

Sunday Brunch at Grey Eagle Casino is pretty awesome as well, and it's normally $15/person, unless they've recently raised the price.

am i the only one that thinks Cora's sucks? Their fruit is always dry and disgusting, on several different occasions the english muffin has been rock hard, service sucks, food takes forever to come out (30+min) haha I only go to Cora's if im absolutely dying for some brunch and feeling too lazy to drive far.

I like (not ranked in any order):
-diner deluxe
-the main dish (italian egg bennys)
-8th ave diner
-heartland cafe
-over easy breakfast
-few others that will come to me later

i've always wanted to got to dairy lane but they're always so busy and the wait times are so long...

i was having a crap bag of a morning one sunday desided to go for some good eats at avenue diner, i ordered dungeness crab eggs benny, it was the feature of the day i think it was $17 or $21 bucks. it was one of the most memorable meals I've had in a long time, its a must try!

I love crepes for breakfast. Don't ask me why. I thought they were ok at Cora's... until they got hard like 5 minutes later. Then I had Over Easy. They ACTUALLY stay soft and were edible.

Pacini by the airport has some decent breakfast too.

99th avenue cafe on 99th and MacLeod has (by far) the best breakfast in the south. it's fairly traditional - you're not gonna find lobster benedict on their menu, for example - but it's real, fresh, relatively cheap, and there is NEVER a line. definitely my go-to place for breakfast in the south.

i agree with others about dairy lane, as well as the several breakfast spots on edmonton trail. they have great food at these spots, but i'm not down to wait in line for 30 minutes (after i've already driven 15 to get there).

Eat Eat is also good, and less busy, but i could literally walk to 99th ave cafe, so i end up there most weekends.

i also know of a spot within an hours drive of YYC that serves the best breakfast i've ever had in canada (not even kidding), but only "locals" that live near it know about it, and i'm not gonna ruin that by sharing it on the interwebs. har har har. :bigpimp:

Not to de-track from your ideas.... Why not make them breakfast yourself? Pretty sure it will be extra special for them.

Was in at over Easy this morning with the in-laws. Very tasty. Anyone know if that's the same owner as the old Country Kitchen at the same location?

I got around to going to use my Wake Bistro dealfind.

The place is tiny but cozy.
Definitely could not scarf down $30 bucks between the two of us. I had the philly melt and she had the breakfast burrito and we swapped. The potatoes are definately awesome and so were the fries.

Also had coffee cake, hot chocolate, and a coffee.
The coffee was STRONG but it didn't smell burnt/old.

We owed like 4 bucks or soemthing on the tab and had to take some of the food home.

Oh. And they "leave you comfy" so they don't bring the bill to you and you have to go ask for it.
