Hi,

I just had my hard drive crash on my laptop and figured its a good time to finally upgrade to a bigger one. The question I have is with my copy of windows 7.

I bought a windows 7 cd that it only good for an install on one computer, and it's currently installed on my crashed hard drive.

Can I replace my old trashed hard drive with the new one and still install windows 7 using this cd? Or do I need to get another windows 7 cd?

Thanks.

You will be fine installing it again.

Microsoft isn't THAT strict when it comes to re-installations of the same license.

As long as the major components of the pc don't change (like motherboard) then the install will work and activate without issue

And even if you do change the computer drastically, you just call up Microsoft when the activation fails and they will usually do it on the phone no questions asked.
