Hey there folks, I've been shooting clubs both in Canada and Japan for the last three years and one thing I have come to see ONLINE only are flash brackets being advertised on what (to me) looks to be the wrong side.

Any time I shoot, my camera sits on the left side of the bracket and the flash sits beside it on the right side, much like the following image:

Why would you mount the flash to the left side of the camera, rather than the right? With those of us who use battery grips (or the higher end pro series bodies), wouldn't mounting the flash on the left side of the camera remove the functionality of using the secondary shutter button (on the battery grip/lower side of the body)?

Please school me here!

Why would it impede use of the grip? For the extremely rare occasions I shoot with a bracket, I have the light on the left side. That is where it usually is on brackets, and that is most common. I've used it on the left side with battery grips and built-in pro grips with no problem. Not sure why it would interfere?

I had thought that by shooting in a club or event and havimg the flash on the underside of the lens, it might lead to some adverse affects, or if you rotate your camera so the flash is above the camera, it would be awkward to shoot (keeping in mind im rsferring to shooting in portrait style, not landscape format). I guess ill give it a shot this coming weekend and see if it works as good for me as it does for you. Thanks for the feedback.
