Police nab Italian car shark

A Roman street racer has reportedly been arrested after ripping off drivers in his souped-up 500-horsepower imported car.

The driver was known in local slang as "Er Murena", the moray eel, for his speed and agility in the Subaru Impreza.

The driver was identified by La Repubblica newspaper only by his nickname.

He said he and two friends scanned the streets of Rome at night for Ferrari or Porsche drivers who looked "like they'd be played" into betting up to 5,000 euros or even their cars in a race.

"The plan was simple," the 22-year-old told the newspaper. "I teased them, then I tried them ... nine times out of 10 the idiot walked straight into the trap.

"I just destroyed them ... in three years, I never lost," the eel said.

The man faces charges for hit-and-run driving, a series of traffic violations, inflicting injuries and failure to render assistance to a person in danger.

His car has been impounded.

If you didn't notice he didn't face any charges with regards to the bets, just what he did while winning the bet.

Probably 911 C2 (non turbo), in which case it'd be close.

STi aside, this would destroy a 911 turbo

And then through the second leg of the race you'd need your mechanic crew there to replace your whole drivetrain.

No it won't. That car's only got 300hp. At 2800lbs, the power to weight ratio still favors the 911 turbo.

We are all speculating.

Different enviroments, conditions, drivers and vehicles will all end up with different results.

who cares?

You care, that's why I pointed it out! :)

It's simple physics, that's all. A lot of people mistakenly think the WRC cars are superfast, but they don't realize that it's got restrictors because of rules and makes fairly low hp hehe.

We are talking about a 500HP AWD Imprezza here, and not a stock STi. If true, this car would probably best a lot of Ferraris and Porsches out there.
