So lately I've been helping an old landlady with her bathroom,.. well actually her sisters.

trying to make a small basement bath with a cheater door feel and look like something Cleopatra would use,...

hopefully C_Dave45 can appreciate my work ;)

Sorry, my pics are crappy cell phone pics. When the paint is selected and the glass is in, I'll take my wifes DSLR and take better pics.

Here is the initial plans:

Here is the CG of the plans:

And now the work in progress:

Drywall (sorry didn't take pics of framing)

Just waiting for the glass to be measured up and installed

Materials:

Ceramic tile imported from italy, both the 12x12 and the 4x4 tumbled
brushed chrome small subway tiles (bloody $45 for a single 12x12 sheet)
Vessel sink is made from 1 piece of solid granite.
Shower unit has rain head, body and leg sprayers
Cabinet is 3/4" walnut stained finished birch ply - none of the veneer crap (still need to make the front pull down door)
- the cab was initially supposed to be floating but the sink was just too heavy, I had to make a small foot under the cab really close to the wall to support at least 1/2 the weight of the sink; which weighs over 50 lbs
All hardware is brushed nickel.
Infloor heating
moisture sensing ultra quiet exhaust fan

I can only help a couple hours in the afternoons during the week and this bath from start till now has taken me almost a month so far (closer to 3 weeks maybe?)

Stay tuned, trying to have this done by xmas!

Just materials and hardware, about $10k + so far.

Once all is said and done, including various other costs/labour,... This bath will be worth as much as my car.

Looks great Jay. The only thing I would have suggested is to throw a piece of Kerdi over that stub wall (unless you did and just no pic). Once your glass is in place, that little shelf will take a steady stream of water and it will soak through the grout onto that drywall. Just a matter of time until you-know-what happens. Nice looking bathroom.

Dave - I'm going to have to discuss with you the proper way of building mine, if you don't mind. We're going to have a tiled enclosure with a glass door, and I really don't know the best way to build it.

For that matter, perhaps you wouldn't mind taking a trip up to Kincora for an afternoon and help me build the shower portion? We can do it over friendly beers, or I don't mind paying you...

Thx Dave

Tile is not my forte, but I do know enough. I try as best as I can to make things look good!

This is probably the nicest bathroom I've had the opportunity to work on and I'm proud of what I've done so far.

@ eblend: I haven't flown an airplane or helicopter yet,.. lol

Yes,.. there is a fan right above the toilet, and it is quiet.

I don't have the box anymore, but I'll take a pic of it. It even has a moisture sensor on it, has the option for automatic operation or by remote (iirc from the operation instructions)

very nice- that's one thing I don't like about my house- the bathroom is too small to do anything fancy with, unless I someday decide to finish the basement one...

at work, we've installed glass with beveled+polished edges (either 8 or 10mm) into applications like that- really looks incredible with beautiful tilework like that.

Amazing Jay :bigpimp: It's like the ultimate couple's jerk off retreat in the comfort at one's home... Husband fappin to the wife showering while in the tub, and the wife vibrating to the sonic blast of the full body fountain. Bravo.

Actually the very top edge of the sink sits at approx 31"

Most bath cabs are between 30-32" tall

I does look lower because the actual cab is lower.

the sister is short too.

yup, nasty, but it's all good now
nearly identical to one done over a year ago, nothing fancy, just a basic build, but nice, clean and done proper for the years to come :-)
