Hi Guys,

Working on my media room in the basement and would love for the basement window blinds to close automatically when I turn on the projector. Currently the screne goes down when I power on the projector, but I would love for the window to close as well. I am not looking for anything crazy, but I have seen before online that you can buy these motors which fit inside of your existing blinds and have the rod go right through them, allowing to adapt existing blinds to make them automated. Anyone know where I might be able to find something like this, either locally or online. Can't seem to track them down online anymore. I believe the name of such things is a tilt motor. I want to adapt it to a 12v trigger, so no remote and all that crap is necessary

Something like this

I had an idea the other day, is there a product out there, that works like the windows in an airplane, where a built in panel could be closed? Sealing off all light from entering/ really keeping the heat in/cold out?

Seems like a decent idea.. On basement windows anyways.. :dunno:

Pulldown Window Shades? Been around for decades. You can buy them at Sears or any other "Home Hardware" store. We have them in our kids rooms for those summer bedtimes when the sun it up till 10pm. The photo below has some sort of borders around the sides...our don't have that.

^^^ Is that the cheapest way to do blackout blinds?

I've been wanting to upgrade the tinfoil covered cardboard blocking the window in my home theater room for a while now

Lutron has optional side and bottom tracks for their shades, if you do that along with a blackout fabric none of the natural light will come through.
