Bought a bike last spring and want to ride it during the winter. Doing various exercises to get in shape and figure I should put the bike in use. Can you recommend a good bike trainer? I got the Giant Trance 1. Not the X but I got a deal on it and didn't think I needed the X as I haven't rode since high school.

I'm using the Cycleops Fluid2 that I like a lot. Wait around for a sale at Bow Cycle.

Trainers are on sale all the time at the bike shop. If its a road bike go but a home trainer rear tire so you don't separate the tread on your rear tire.

Ok, I see one for sale on Kijiji. Brand new, $320. Retail $400.
I will also go to Bow and see what they say.

Thanks peeps.

I have a Minoura trainer. Can 't remember which model, but for basic cardio and leg workout, it does the job. I think I only paid about $150 when Sport Swap was still around. Bow Cycle carries them as well. A few recommendations would be to get a cycle computer that works off of the rear wheel and like memtioned already, get yourself a slick on the drive wheel. The noise from a knobby tire is fairly loud. This is assuming that you are using a mountain bike on rear wheel drive trainer. :D. Good luck!

Definitely get yourself a trainer tire, biek trainers eat away at rubber pretty good.

They're about $60, but well worth it.

Look for a used trainer though. I got a Cycleops Fluid2 for dirt cheap off a teammate, and i know for a fact theyre all over kijiji, etc..

BTW: i just bought a new cycle computer, so if you want a POLAR CS600 for cheap let me know.

i use the cycleops super magneto pro. I really like it for a trainer, it's not as loud as others and has really good resistance. i've spent most of this winter on my rollers however and would recommend a set of those over a trainer. i got the cycleops trainer with resistance.
