On VW.ca they have a banner for something new in 4 days. Does anyone know what it is?

We don't get the euro version since vw is keeping price down to fight with other mid size. Spy photo looks ugly IMO.

Amorak isn't coming to North America, the way it would be priced just doesn't mesh with our economy. Plus no one wants an underpowered truck. I really do love the styling of it though.

It will be the NMS sedan concept for sure:

I would wager a bet that there will be a bigger announcement for the Golf-R to build hype.

Eh, VW is going the way of Toyota with their bland designs.

They'll sell more this way. Price is going down something like 7g in US by putting in the 2.5 as the base engine. Glad diesel is available again.

As far as looks go when was the last time anyone was excited about any gen Passat? If you want looks VW will gladly sell you a CC.

Blaaaand. But then again every Passat was.

VW needs to stop trying to compete with Toyota and Honda, because all that means is cheaper materials. VW's sold because they were made with decent quality materials. Now, look at the new Jetta for example, everything is made cheaper so they could 'compete'. The kind of plastic I'd expect from a Honda, and rear drum brakes. Sure it keeps costs down, but to the point where it's as stale as a Toyota.

People don't buy VW's because they liked it over the equivalent boring Japanese car, they buy them because of affordable German engineering, and up until recently, a high quality product.... Despite the few years of Mexican production of course :thumbsdow.

Look at the GTI. 30k, sells extremely well because it's a damn good car. New Jetta, 18k, sells poorly because... well, would you buy it?

TL;DR version; VW needs to realize that their North American market isn't full of people that just want the cheapest product. Allowing VW America to design the new Jetta was a mistake, and letting VW Shangai design this new Passat will probably flop as well.

Bring us the Scirocco R though, and all will be forgiven:drool:

You got that backwards...VW Canada sold 2150 new Jettas in December an increase of 190% over last December. Meanwhile they moved 103 GTIs so I think as much as enthusiasts hate the Jetta, general population likes it.

A big jetta, so exciting!
If this is VW's plan to be the worlds #1 automaker in 7 years... I don't know. I guess they know what they're doing :dunno:

But theres a bunch of VW updates for 2012.

The Passat, Beetle, R20, Golf. all redesigned.

Very conservative design by VW.
