I would say a day rest for basic workout stuff. between the same muscle groups.

2 days for squats. (i can barely do squats twice a week)

Yeah I think a day should be okay.

Probably will need more for Squats and Deadlifts like Tarrantula mentioned. Doing squats twice a week is killer. I tried doing that for a couple weeks and just couldn't do it.

I work out 5-6 times a week (so, 1-2 days full rest) but besides cardio, alternate muscle groups every day so that there is always a full day's rest before any given music group is worked out intensively again.

I'm curious as to what is best as well, but I always figured a full day's rest was good.

I have two different workouts that I alternate. I go two days straight then one rest day off, giving that particular muscle group ie. squat day two days rest. So Monday workout A, Tuesday workout B, Wednesday rest, repeat. Your not helping yourself by overtraining without a chance to heal that's for sure.

Depends how you feel? :dunno:

Personally my work out schedule is like this:

Day 1: Press
Day 2: Squat
Day 3: Rest
Day 4: Rest
Day 5: Bench
Day 6: Deadlift

My rest days varies anywhere from 1-4 days haha

Sometimes I'm just busy and no time to lift. Sometimes I'm just so fucking sore from doing heavy sets of squat or kroc rows that my legs and back are just wrecking me.

So in short, it depends.

If it's sore don't work it out, if it feels great then do.

I work out every major muscle group only once a week. That's divided into about 3 different workouts. I might go three in a row and then a couple days rest, and start again. Or it might be a workout every other day for the week.

I group muscle parts together, so I'm working them in conjunction with each other.

Ie: "push" type muscles on day 1: Chest and tri's

"pull" type muscles on day 2: Back and bi's

day 3: shoulders & legs.

I also mix everything up quite a bit. But always keep the same "groups" working together.

Once a week.

I mix it up but as an example:

Monday: Chest/Tris
Tuesday: Back/Bis
Wednesday: Run
Thursday: Shoulders
Friday: Core
Saturday: Run
Sunday: Rest

If you're looking to get big, you NEED a leg day with Squats. I've been tring to run twice as week as I'll likely be marathon training pretty soon.

Squat is the best exercise known to man. Form is key. Concentrate on that, the weight will come. Good luck OP.

It depends what type of workout you're doing. I usually only take one day off a week. Right now I'm not taking any days off until mid feb when I goto Cancun cause I wanna be super cut.

I usually work out monday to sat and sundays off, but I get good rest between muscle groups.

day 1: chest, abs, cardio
day 2: back, calves, cardio
day 3: shoulders, abs, cardio
day 4: bis, tris, cardio
day 5: body weight day (push ups, dips, pull ups, roman chair, abs) or a class (zumba or spin)

Just spent a hr and a half last night working my legs. Driving my car home required a little more effort being it's manual lol.

Can anyone recomend supplements I can take to give me that extra boost? not talking about steroids or whatever. I just find myself losing energy through the middle of my workout, so if theres something I can take to power through I'm open to any suggestions.
