I figure since my hairstyle is on a simple side (faux hawk), I'm looking to buy a shaver/trimmer where I can cut the sides and the back instead of going to a hair salon to get it done.

Any recommendations?

Costco has a kit for under $30 (clippers, guards, scissor, combs). I've used it to cut my son's hair for the past 3 years.

Winners always have them. If you want top quality go to a salon supplier. There's really not much difference between them all as far as I can tell.

What I use, seems higher quality than my previous wahl's, etc.

Had one Wahl which I used for 3 years before I lost it in Loas. Then I got a second one which I've had for over 2, works better then any other brand I've ever had.

I've bought a few $30 Conair ones and they always seem to break within weeks and the battery life is shit.

If you know a hair stylist ask her to get you a good proffesional grade one from the distributors. They're like $30-$45 and will last you years.

I actually have a Wahl nose hair trimmer that I've been using for 6 years now and it still works like new.

My advice is get one that plugs into the wall. Every cordless one I've ever owned has been shit, and the battery has failed within a very short period of time. I just bought one of those cheap $25 Conair ones from walmart that come with like 20 attachments and It's been doing it's job for several years no issues.

I use a Philips QT4050 trimmer on my beard, the guard goes down to 1mm if that's short enough for you, but can also be taken off completely.

It has a built in vacuum that isn't perfect, but saves 1/2 the mess, is cordless with lithium ion batteries, but it can also shave while plugged in (which a lot of cordless ones can't).

I got it at bestbuy for $40 on sale I think. I'd recommend it.
