Feels like a race car driver's home.

Silver-leafed glass tile

Used for the fireplace and kitchen splash.

Love it in the kitchen, not so much on the fireplace though. Personal preference of course!

The black/white checker look seems like it belongs in the 60's or something to me... not my thing. I do, however, like the textures in it.

Looks awful on the fireplace. Of course I'm sure the room isn't done and if you get some stuff surrounding the fireplace so it doesn't look so long, it'll look good.

I like it upclose, the texture/patterns of the tiles.

The tiles themselves, like on an individual basis, are cool. I don't like that checked look though, in the kitchen it's especially clashy and doesn't work for me.

The black tile work looks great with the cabinets & countertops though.

My thoughts? Technically proficient installation, and interesting tile. However I think the design looks butt ugly.

ok. if you want that 'race car drivers' home w/ the checkered theme.... well done, it looks exactly like how i'd picture it.

Personally, i'm with most of the rest of the thread, its clashy and doesn't have nice flow, but its bang on what YOU wanted, and thats all that matters.

 Uhhh....people....this isn't my house. It's not my tile. It's not even my design or colour choice. I just install it into the customers' houses as per the specs. I have no say in the design process. I just install it and get paid.
Personally, on most of the jobs I do, I think the tile is cheap and looks like shit. I just post up the more interesting/weird jobs I do. Not looking for compliments or kudos.

I totally agree. I laugh at some of the choices I see/install. Imagine trying to sell this place down the road? Lol.

I think it looks good in the kitchen, although, seriously, black tile as kitchen backsplash, is gonna be horrible to clean, i guess they dont plan on doing alot of cooking...

as far as being all over the fireplace... i think its tacky. looks horrid.

 rofl The counter is gorgeous black granite. What you're looking at is the protective cellophane covering it.

Even for a racer thats very tacky. Cool actual tiles, but I dont think this turned out as well as the owner would have hoped.
I would have used only those two styles of tile, and made a few interesting designs with them. THAT would be cool.
These guys took something that was cool, barely used it, and instead used it to make something hideous that will hurt the resale value/appeal to other buyers. :nut:
