News posted this morning at FT86club (http://www.ft86club.com)

Subaru has just confirmed that its version of the Toyota FT-86 sports coupe will finally be revealed at the Geneva motorshow in March. What's most interesting is that it will be RWD! It's going to be weird to see a non-AWD Subaru IMO.

Car is called Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept and will be on an all new RWD platform with a boxer engine.

I now doubt both the Subaru and Toyota FT-86 will be sold in US since both will be RWD and just cannibalize each other's sales.

 I want it! Seems like cheaper sports coupes are coming back. Genesis and now this! While i dont think it will be cheap i do hope is a redesigned power plant and not just a revamp of the current boxer turbo 2.0

Yes it will be very unlikely both will be sold in north America but we do general get many cars on the same platform (many gm product, focus...)

I honestly don't want to hear another word about these cars until they're on the lot, ready to buy.

Wow, looks great. It actually comes across looking somewhat original...quite a feat these days. Good work, can't wait to see it on the roads. :poosie:

...if the thing ever ends up becoming reality.

The GT-R was teased for a while. The final car did look pretty close to the concept that was introduced what, 5 years before it hit the market? This totally reminds me of the exact same saga. Non-AWD Subaru? They exist. There are many older FWD Imprezas, Legacys, and Loyales. RWD though... At least they got that part right.

I'm pretty sure the current boxer turbo in the WRX & STi is a 2.5 and not a 2.0. The 2.5 is the motor that people have been having issues with lately and the 2.0 is the JDM Spec motor which is supposedly stronger.
