Qualifications in order of priority:
1. Registered Massage Therapist
2. Good
3. Proximity to north or, if open outside of 9-5, downtow
4. NOT looking for a happy ending
5. Cute would be a bonus, if I'm gonna get kneaded for an hour, might as well..? :D But again, NOT looking for a happy ending.

Thanks!

Aphrodite Hair and Massage.

Excellent RMT, 30ave Centre Street NW, cute too.

If you ask for a happy ending, I'll find you and break your dominant arm. ;)

I am trying a new place tonight though to try and fix my problem shoulder. Been reading on Active Release Therapy, and the place I am going to tonight is a certified ART practitioner as well as a RMT (usually, its the Chiropractors that give this care).

Yeah, go to http://www.activerelease.com/

and then enter your postal code and it will pop up all the ART certified people in Calgary..

I've read some conflicting stuff on it, its almost like chiropractic for muscles/connective tissue and can take 3-6 treatments at about $50 each (only like 15 minutes each).

Just to clarify, Aphrodite's, the girl is an RMT, but not ART certified, which is why I tried this other place.

My wife works here. The massage therapists are pretty much all hot. Xmas party is fun at this place.

I went to myspinedocs...the one in country hills. I was I need of a massage due to soreness and I booked the first avail appointment. I didn't get one of the hot young ones unfortunately.

I was quite disappointed with the massage I received...feels as though it didn't help much and wasn't anywhere as good as the ones I have gotten at other places.

Anyone have any experience or insight to shed about chiropractic?

If you are looking for a good AND educated RMT, also find out where they went to school. BC or Ontario educated RMT has at least 2200 hours of school that's equivalent to 2 years vocational or 3 years of college. As both provinces have Colleges(i.e. CMTO) like nurses, physicians etc. All other provinces there are not regulated in the province hence the wide range of mediocre RMTs. min in alberta is 500 hours.

I have been an RMT for 7 years and my first year was 600 hours of just anatomy. I don't know how many RMTs are going to learn the full scope of the body in 500 hours let alone the physiology, anatomy, orthopaedic testing, gait analysys, the endless range of techniques and pain disorders in 6 months of school.

Every high end spa/hotel/resort in AB/BC requires all RMTs to have 2200 hours or equivalent continuing education in the next few months or the ins. are not going to pay out for therapeutic massage therapy claims.

In Calgary:

Tiana (or Darryl) Blunt Registered Massage Therapist at Lakeside Spa - 234-755 Lake Bonavista Dr SE, Calgary, AB
lakesidespa.ca

Let them know Glenn from Banff sent you.

- also when requesting massage for sports injuries, make sure you ask for some myofascial release, deep tissue and/or sports post-event massage. If they don't know any of those terms, find another therapist.

After a injury in the gym that made me feel helpless, i went to a guy on Center st and he fixed me up real good. His prices are more than fair and has really done what i thought wasnt possible.
