A 26-year old man driving a stolen vehicle rear-ended a mini-van with three people in it Thursday evening. As a result, all of the mini-van’s occupants were taken hospital. Police have arrested the alleged driver of the stolen car and charged him with a variety of offences.

At just after 9 p.m. High River RCMP responded to a call about a two vehicle collision near the intersection of Center Street and 8 Ave S.E. Witnesses say that a Honda Civic traveling at high speed rear ended a mini van that was slowing to make a turn onto 8 Ave.
Two of the mini van’s occupants were thrown from the vehicle. They sustained head and neck injuries. The third person in the van sustained minor injuries, according to police.
One of the victims was taken to Foothills Hospital in Calgary, one to the Alberta Children’s Hospital and one to High River Hospital.
Witnesses told police that the driver of the Civic fled from the scene on foot, leaving his passenger in the car at the scene. She had minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Investigators believe the Honda Civic had been reported stolen about a half-hour earlier. The suspect broke into the owner’s home and stole the vehicle.
The suspect was found in downtown High River and arrested.
A 26-year old man from the Siksika Nation will be facing 17 criminal charges which include: one count of Break Enter & Theft, two counts of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, one count Criminal Code fail to remain at an accident scene, two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm, 1 count of theft, 1 count of possession of stolen property, 7 counts of breaching conditions of a recognizance, and one count of breach of probation.
High River RCMP are continuing their investigation with the assistance of RCMP Calgary Forensic Identification section, and RCMP District Criminal Collision Investigation Team.
