View Full Version : Looking for motivational music for a gym

I work at a Parkour gym here in Calgary and our play list is a bit... old. Another instructor just left an old iPod lying around and it's been an easy solution that no ones wanted to deal with. I'm tired of it and would like to create a motivational play list for my students. That being said, I'd like outsiders opinions so that it can suite a broader audience than if it were all my taste in music.

So I'm looking for suggestions, whether it be specific songs, artists, albums, etc. Any genre is good as long as it makes you want to move!

I'd suggest just a mix of everything. Don't go extremely polarizing music, keep it kind of netural. You aren't going to want real heavy metal music because the girls and most of the guys aren't going to enjoy that. You also aren't going to want classic country because that isn't the crowd who would be at your gym. Top 40 would be safe.

Your best bet would be to pick up satalite radio and just pay the $14/month and have new music all the time by simply changing ths channel.

I could list a lot, as could everyone. :dunno: I find hard rock, trance and house work best for me.

I suppose it depends on how much it all costs--buying CD's and songs for the iPod and using existing equipment vs. paying monthly for satellite radio and any additional equipment but getting a lot of variety. Personally, I don't listen to the radio because I don't like what they play and I want to listen to what I want, when I want.

Perhaps have everyone at your gym write down 5 songs or so that they would like to hear and go from there.

This is an awesome suggestion. Thanks!

In the meantime I wouldn't mind getting more suggestions. Even if they are just for me. I'm always looking for anything that can motivate me.
