Business license cost-Lethbridge

Resident $80.00 a year.
Non-resident $670.00 year.

43 St is the cut off between the City of Lethbridge and the County of Lethbridge. My business is right off of 43 St on the County side.

Anyway, I was shocked at the fee difference, but no one I asked at Regulatory Services could explain why the fee was so high. The only answer I've received so far is, "That's the price of doing business in Lethbridge if you live in the county of Lethbridge.

I'm guessing the real answer is, "Since you're in the county of Lethbridge, you're not paying city of Lethbridge taxes...so we have to soak you any way we can".

Does that sound right?

Check and see at your local city hall if they have intermunicipal contractor licences. That's what we have on the island.

I couldn't find anything like that online, but I'll ask when I call the city again tomorrow.
