I'm curious how many of you guys do or are willing to play lunch time Shinny at the City of Calgary arenas?

I'm trying to get back into the game at a very low-competitive level and am thinking this might be a good idea? (I do play a pickup here and there)

I'd like get into the CAHL or NCHL fully time here in the city, but its a little late to find a fulltime spot on a team and I need to hone some skills before anyhow.

Curious also this obviously isn't just pond hockey shinny, so I'll assume snap or even slap shots are allowed and wearing pants, helmet and shin pads are a good idea?

I'm just thinking that if there is any level of competitiveness which is close to beer league, that this would be a good start for me?

Its a great place to start. I play at Southland at least once a week. All skill levels play. Just bring full equipment.

I can only find 3 places now...
South Fish Creek
Village Square
Trico

For the 3, I prefer the guys @ South Fish Creek, then Trico, and the square...

Level of hockey for all 3 are close, which is quite good, BUT... sometimes there are the odd days where a few specific individuals will seriously take 10 minute shifts, meanwhile you got 8 bodies sitting there waiting for ice.

South Fish Creek has a booking system have consistant players who I find play fairly and pass alot...

anyone know anywhere else?

I've played at SFC a few times and I like the pace and the group of guys on Mondays and Wednesdays. I've never had much luck with the City of Calgary shinny sessions. Tends to be more hacks who think they're still going pro that show up to those things.

You can tell that it's Summer time now because the SFC shinny is filling up fast every week...

2 goalies for Trico and LC?
There's COP on Tuesday and Thursday from 12-1:15. I've never been so not sure about turnout.
Westside Rec updated their new arena schedule. I've only been on Wednesday and Thursday. Never know about goalie turnout though.
