Approximately 102,700 tickets were paid between November 2009 and last Thursday. The refunds will add up to about $12.7 million, Siddons said. Speed-on-green fines start at $110.

How in the world did they get all this reversed? Why can we not do this in Calgary? It's the same province/country with all the sames laws. wtf is going on ?? lol

The reason for the refunds and the dismissal of tickets is faulty equipment, not the law itself. Unless it comes out that Calgary's cameras had the same issues there will be no reason for it to happen here.

Poor Edmontonians, the Province/City will want to get that revenue back so I wonder if they'll lower the tolerances when the cameras go back into service.

Haha even if there were faulty cams here, you think the city would pony up and refund all that money

Calgary Police said the cameras here are not affected. We are using an older model, but were in the process of testing the new ones that Edmonton was using.

Calgary police use speed-on-green cameras made by the same company, but officials said the model in use here is an older version that hasn’t experienced the same glitches.

Local police have been testing the same cameras Edmonton has been using, but haven’t put them into service.

“We haven’t sent out a single ticket with this next-generation camera because we’re not happy because we’re seeing some of the same problems,” said Insp. Dean Lagrange of the traffic section.

$12.7 million. Does anyone really think these cameras are in use for any reasons other than income? It's insane that you can put up some cameras at intersections and make millions of dollars off of taxpayers.
