Just wondering if there are any beyond members who are working in an O&G company in the commercial side (business analyst, energy analyst, risk analyst, etc). I'm interested in getting my foot into one of those roles, and am wondering what the requirements are to get started.

i have an econ degree. been working as a financial advisor at a bank for the last few years. also worked as a joint venture accountant for 2 years before that.

should i take more courses? or do you think I can get into a commercial position with what i have right now.

thanks!

My wife is in the commercial side at one of the big oil companies doing financial analysis and evaluations.

She's a P.Eng, and worked as an engineer for 7 years. She didn't get moved over into the finance side until she completed her level 2 CFA. Seems like most of the people in her group have an mba or working towards completing their CFA designation.

Even for entry level positions, you need to start with a CFA designation? that's harsh
