I'm trying to watch a foreign movie I torrented from a site. It came with subs as a separate file and it works perfectly on my PC because I can turn it on.

How do I turn on the subs on the PS3 while streaming it?

You can't, PS3 doesn't support soft subs. You will have to encode it.

Yep, ^ like he said you must hardcode it so its an animation within the movie so to speak, virtual dub is pretty good for that

If you are using PS3 Media Server to stream from computer to ps3, you can select the subs and languages it supports by going into the transcode folder first, then selecting your video file. It will list a bunch of different versions of the file you can pick from and if it has soft coded subs, it will be there.

You should also have some codecs such as 'Combined Community Codec Pack' installed on your computer.
