As the subject states I am wondering if anyone on the board works or knows anything about NORMs (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials)?

From what I can find there are only 2 companies that deal with NORMs in Alberta, Normcan and N.O.R.M.

What sort of work would one expect to be doing working for one of these companies?

Basically I can not find any real information on these companies and the actual tasks someone would do while working for one of these companies.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

A gas plant i had worked at had the potential for NORMS. They made us wear dosimeter badges daily.

I know that the potential for NORMS can be present at and gas faclility.

I also know that if you get an xray tech to shoot your dosimeter badge the safety department doesn't like it haha.

I'm guessing you'd be doing soil testing and testing of drilling cuttings?

My old company had the potential for NORMS in it's well site operations so I had to be the lucky one to go test. Not a big deal, rented test equipment from a Calgary company.

Sort of boring, IMO. But maybe there's more that I was missing.
