These are pretty cool. But how does that thing sound bad ass? isn't it an inline 3 with under 100hp?

From Wikipedia for what it's worth...

In typical Honda fashion, the Beat's engine did not utilize a turbocharger or supercharger. The 656 cc (40.0 cu in) engine was modified with the MTREC (Multi Throttle Responsive Engine Control) system, with individual throttle bodies for each of the three cylinders, to produce 64 PS (63 bhp) at 8100 rpm with an electronically limited top speed of 135 km/h (84 mph).

Could be Primer_Drift's beat. He's upgraded it to a B16a, that would sound significantly better than the stock engine.

Is this something that was actually done? And if so is there a thread about said car?

Yep been done. here is his thread from Honda Tech. The engine swap really starts around page 4 but there is some interesting fab to the brakes on the first few pages too.

Very cool! Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same Beat as the thread on Honda-Tech. License plate alignment is similar lol.
