Being in my early twenties I find it hard to think any job is truly "unrealistic", but I figure I can think of a few careers that would be pretty hard near impossible to obtain and are not realistic long-term goals.

Municipal Politician/MLA/MP
Lawyer
Unemployed

Unrealistic:

Prime Minister
Secretary-General of the United Nations
Chief Justice of Canada
Puisne Judge

What?:

God
King of the World

calling it $3,500,000,000 sounds pretty impressive, until you add that it is $3,500,000,000 in South African dollars (Rand), but still impressive nonetheless.

Not as unrealistic as you might think, as long as you have talent. Now, becoming a WRC factory driver? Unrealistic!

Reality- probably end up in some sort of management position if I play my cards right (related to engineering)

Dream- being a politician to clean up the system while racing on the side

Realistic: Be in upper management in the O&G industry (somewhere at or below the VP level)

Unrealistic: Definitely a car tester. Wouldn't want to be a professional racer because there would be far too much stress involved. I would bet it takes a large amount of fun out of the "job", as many other professional athletes have said in the past.

Dream: to be W. Brett Wilson

Rich as balls, with a family that doesn't spend time with him, and always being preoccupied with work? Ya right.

I've been to his house a couple times and hung out with his daughter... not a family I would like to be a part of. My cousin was at Brett's 50th B-day and said he couldn't get off his phone the whole time (dealing with work)... sounds like fun to me.

To have the money he's got though... that would be sick. :bigpimp:

EDIT: I should clarify, however, that if I wasn't a family-oriented guy, and my main motivation in life was career success, then yes; it would be unreal to be Brett Wilson.

In the summer of 2009, I told my girlfriend, now fiancée, that my dream is to run around with dogs all day and golf whenever I want.

Fast forward to 2011, I'm fortunate enough to have to opportunity to open my own dog daycare/training center and I work with a great rescue foundation.

Realistically, I never thought this would have been possible. I have a degree in CPSC and I used to be in oil & gas. Even a year ago, I thought this was pretty unrealistic.

However, I've always wanted to be a superstar in the NBA or make it big in Hollywood :D

Vasectomy's FTW. I cant imagine pulling in that kind of coin, and just scraping by thanks to a few kids.
Then again my bro's friend does just that.... and not surprisingly he absolutely hates his life.

Another dream job would be to be on the Top Gear show, even just as the stig or in any regard.
Like someone said earlier, to be Brent Wilson would be one helluva gig.

Haha maybe not, but you guys seem to be all from out West (Alb+BC) where costs are significantly higher than Montreal. I actually sold my car, so a metro pass costs 41$/month, gets me anywhere I want and is quick and reliable. Though house prices here have doubled in the past 8 years or so, you can still find places in the city for 300 000$, which sounds like the average price for a place in the countryside out west. In the countryside or suburbs you can still find places for 150 000-250 000$ which isn't that bad. Then again, our wages are also a lot lower than those who live in Alb or B.C. If you make 90k before taxes here, you're higher middle-class for sure, borderline high class.

Either way, I'm definitely not looking forward to the financial implications of kids! I know my two siblings and I have definitely been a huge burden on my folks... They don't own a home and haven't had a car since I was 6 or so. I doubt they have many savings either but they helped put my sister and myself through University and are in the process of doing it for my brother. We certainly owe them a lot...
Just imagine: back in the days it was possible for a sole breadwinner to afford everything for the family.
