Sad to hear a death from the carelessness of another driver. I just drove that highway early on Tuesday morning, blowing snow and people were driving 100+. Fucking sketchy :thumbsdow

Police say the driver of a pick up truck is dead after a semi-trailer truck tried to pass a snow plow during limited visibility and collided head-on with the pick up Wednesday morning. The 56-year old driver of the pick up died at the scene.

A snow plow was working on clearing the westbound lane and north shoulder of highway 580. The plow pushing the snow and a moderate wind from the north created a dense cloud of snow which limited visibility in both directions.

A semi-trailer truck behind the plow moved into the eastbound lane to pass the snow plow, according to police. The semi crashed head-on into the eastbound pickup truck.

The driver of the three-quarter ton truck was declared dead at the scene by EMS. The man has been identified as a 56 year old Cremona resident; the family does not wish for his name to be released.

The driver of the semi-truck was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries and released.

Didsbury and Sundre RCMP, along with the Cremona Fire Department and Provincial EMS responded to the accident, which was about two kms east of Cremona. The collision is still under investigation and at this time, no charges have been laid.

RIP...

I just don't know why people initiate a pass when they can't see through a cloud of snow... it's just negligent to do that...
