Got this in the mail. Should I be scared? Maybe this is true? Im going to this event to see if it makes sense. I'll get back with more detail. Who wants to come with me?

2012 is reasonably close, being only 310 days away. I wouldn't be that afraid unless you don't think you'll be able to scrounge up enough cash for a new calendar in the next 10 months.

If you read the posts above blend said the actual end day would be dec 21 2012. So that's 600 days apart

It's funny how most people just brush this topic off, when all of you know it's in the back of everyone's head and even if not, sub conscientiously it is. There's been major earthquakes, volcanoes, and hurricanes recently. So lets say if a super volcano in Yellowstone Park erupts, or a super storm in the Pacific North West happens, in which case, both scenarios are anticipated, and let's say one of them happen in 2012, or maybe both happen in 2012, all of the predictions will become fact. If one of these scenarios happen in the near future, it will have a major impact on our civilization. Scenarios such as these have occurred in human history. Read some work by Immanuel Velikovsky, if you haven't. My point being if one of these things, or both happen, mankind will be affected like it hasn't been for thousands of years. And if you've read into the theories and prophecies diligently, none of them are saying the world is ending, it's just going to be a new beginning. And with all of the technology we have, we can stop our reliance on oil. We should be able to stop pointless wars, stop fighting over fairy tales that we really know nothing about. Let's all just wait to see if anything happens or not.

Also in early Hindu literature and Chinese literature the sun used to rise in the east and set in the west, which means our poles must of shifted, which is another prediction. All three of these scenarios could happen simultaneously. That would be really fun. :dunno:

be careful what you mean when you say "pole switch" as we we have two sets of poles. I think brownchild is referring to geographic poles, which will never switch unless the laws of physics decide to take a break (which will be a new beginning in the field of physics!!) or something crosses earths path (which would be apparent by now if we were going to cross it by dec 21st 2012).

But I think what a lot of people are referring to are the magnetic poles, which won't really matter all that much if they decide to switch as it won't be the first or the last time.

To be honest (in regards to brownchild's comment) the only thing that is in the back of my mind with regards to 2012 is how annoying people are who keep pressing the issue and trying to come up with different ways our earth will end and spread concern through the uninformed world.

Our society completely has an ethos based around the fear of death. It's your reason for religion. To be honest though your fear of death is derived from the fact that you feel that if you die, you are going to miss out on everything. All your friends and family will still be alive, but you are dead, and you fear what your life could have been.

But when it comes down to 2012, who the fuck cares? Why do I care if I will die if everyone else is dead with me? Why would I want to live? If we are fucked, we are fucked. No biggy.
