Caldwell, the commander of NATO's mission to train Afghan police and soldiers, in Kabul, Afghanistan, on February, 12, 2011.

The U.S. Army illegally ordered a team of soldiers specializing in "psychological operations" to manipulate visiting American senators into providing more troops and funding for the war, Rolling Stone has learned – and when an officer tried to stop the operation, he was railroaded by military investigators. The orders came from the command of Lt. Gen. William Caldwell, a three-star general in charge of training Afghan troops – the linchpin of U.S. strategy in the war. Over a four-month period last year, a military cell devoted to what is known as "information operations" at Camp Eggers in Kabul was repeatedly pressured to target visiting senators and other VIPs who met with Caldwell.

But Rule #1 says don't use psy ops against American citizens...

I blame underfunded military.

Because you have to know that they didn't use tinfoil hats (which cost $14.5/pound) but instead tried to get away with using $1/pound aluminum foil hats.

Only true tinfoil hats reflect mind control rays, accept no substitutes!

Rolling Stone is almost a shitty tabloid rag. There is some element of truth to their stories, kind of like there was when Hunter S Thompson wrote. I've seen them horribly screw up a few recent stories that I had personal knowledge of, so I'm sure they're doing the same thing for the others.

Something similar to this probably happened, but I'd look for a better source.

Oh please. They probably showed them happy smiling children and soldiers carrying puppies. Then immediately after showed the senators soldiers with there limbs blown off from lack of armour on there Humvees.

Seriously, your source is the rolling stones, should I say that the next time I walk into sleep country they use psyops since there are pressure sales?

The story is being carried by MSNBC. Are they tabloid rags too?

Senator Al Franken has already addressed the issue

Rolling Stone didn't invent the story, they were just the first to report it.
