New thread - now that I have purchased a car this will be its build thread. Old...

$200 1995 Honda Civic Hatch CX
Not running at time of purchase
D15B7 (yay Canadian model!)
Plans are to slowly (budget) upgrade and replace parts to build into rally civic while using as a daily.

To-do-list:
- get it running properly
- weight reduction
- suspension
- brakes
- B20 VTEC Swap
- roll cage
- Better Seats/Safety Stuff

ITS ALIVE! The civic runs! New alternator, spark plugs, a few valves, and timing belt! BUT - While running (after warming up) it starts idling funny. Revs to about 1500 then drops to about 1000 and back up to 1500 every 2 or so seconds. The idle air control valve is clean. Its got new spark plugs. Could the distributor timing be off? Anyone had this problem before?

is there a cylindrical assembly under the throttle body?

if so, its the FITV (fast idle thermo valve) and it is the cause of your hunting idle.

take the plate off on the firewalll side and tighten the cream coloured plastic plunger back into place with a solid fingernail/coin or small screwdriver.

This is what you're after.

I'm confused by your (yay canadian model) comment too, as the US cars also came with a d15b7.

Oh - and I meant the Canadian CX model. Sorry. I think the US CX's had D15B8's. Not sure though.
