Anyone know? Are LCDs in the front of your car illegal? Or do they have to be out of the drivers view?

They shouldnt be "illegal", there not that differnet than the Fancy Navigational systems etc...:dunno:

I'm pretty sure the LCD screens aren't illegal because our MDX has one right in the middle of the dash for the HVAC, Trip computer, etc... It gets kind of annoying at night though, unless you dim the screen.

Doesn't matter. Just cuz you see it doesn't mean its legal. I see cars with tint on the front windows all the time, I see cars with neon underglows all the time, I see cars with neon license plate frames all the time. Its just a matter of time before you get a ticket for it. But, its your car- do what you want to it :)

depends on the color,I have a blue neon license plate ,and only got 1 ticket since having it.Cops see me with it all the time and don't do anything.

ohh neon license plate is illegal too? so basically anything that glows beside taillight and headlight is illegal if other driver/ppl can see it?

I know colored fog lights were for a while. Anything but yellow i think. Kinda sucks. If anyone knows a cop I'd like to get some sorta manual of whats street legal and what isn't on a vehical.

Yes it is illegal to have a movie playing while driving or with the Ebrake down, it can have a menu for playing CDs and shit but thats it

My understanding is that it can not be in direct view for the driver.

Only diagnostic tools can be displayed to the driver.

you can have a movie playing while you are driving as long as the driver can't see it, and all extra lighting things that you do to a car like any neon, washer L.E.D.'s underglow, licence plate neon, headlight conversions, H.I.D. bulbs are all illegal, I asked a cop when i got pulled over at a check stop becasue I have underglow, and he says anything that is not on the car from the factory is illegal. :thumbsdow oh well.

i'm going to have the same hid kit on my car too!!!! haha. what are the chances of that? lol. must be the name :guns: .

i was told aftermarket hid's are illegal for two main reasons. you have to disable your DRL(day time running lights) and the housing is not focused right so there is crazy glare for oncomming traffic.

the reason HID's are illegal is because the stock headlight beam is altered. From the factory they are set at a certain height, so if you mess around with it, it makes it illegal. Its the same reason ricer bulbs are illegal.

At the original height with the HID I had to lower it by 50-40 feet. Now no one high beams me, and I still see the road quite well.
I'm not worried.

So that would make a difference...:banghead: Since porches and beamers cost more they can have them :bullshit:

H.I.D's are not illegal if installed properly :thumbsup:

no i didnt get a ticket I am pretty quick when i see a cop to shut them off, but i asked, cause i also have all my lenses clear with colored bulbs and they are illegal too, but the ticket is stunting if you ever get one, 125$ 4 or5 demerits i dont remember, but it sucks either way

ok check this out, all this yes it is legal no it isn't swapping of info is all wrong

IF THE COP DOESN'T LIKE WHAT HE OR SHE SEES, THEY WILL PULL YOU OVER, REGARDLESS OF LAW

i have asked many cops if my uder car lights and lights in the grille are illegal, everyone i have talked to has said no because you cannot see any of the bubls unless you are under the car, you can see glow, but no bulbs, same with interior lights, my car glows blue everywhere, i drive all the time with it on, and have no got into any trouble......if they see this car go "flying" by with color added yes it will attract attention and they will stop you, other than that i would say do what you want, next time you see a cop ask about illegal lighting, get the one who says it isn't illegal and remember their badge number and date time etc. you were told it was ok, if you get a ticket, fight it with this information

as for the main question ..

it is illegal to be playing a movie if the screen is within the drivers visibility. there is a safety feature for in dash DVD players /LCD screens where if they car is in motion/ebrake down the unit will refuse to play the movie.

This can be easily over ridden by anybody installing it ..

Here's the general rule when it comes to adding anything that's aftermarket:

1.) If it is not a factory option, then it's illegal.
a.) Many people have said illegal mods in the form of exhausts, rims, lowering, etc.
a.i) Not every cop will pull you over for said illegal mods. They will only pull you over if
a.i.i.)you already did something to piss them off (ie. Speeding, stunting, whatever).
a.i.ii.) The cop thinks its stupid enough to warrant a ticket (ie. being a ricer).
a.i.iii.)The cop is just in a shitty mood and pulled you over because he has nothing better to do.
