How would I go about selling a vehicle for the person to pay part now and part in 2 weeks when they get paid, without getting screwed over?

take a deposit for the bike... sign everything over when they get paid in two weeks :dunno:

They need the vehicle right away, would it work to just not sign over the bill of sale till it's paid in full but let them drive it?

Like said. Bad idea. Dont do it.
Wait the two weeks and get all cash in hand.

Don't do it!

I've been offered payment plans several times for my cars.

Just think - what happens if they don't pay? Do you take them to small claims? Is it worth your time?

Your Jeep is not a lot of money. If they can't come up with that kind of cash - I think there is a real risk they will have difficulty paying.

As has been suggested - take a deposit and arrange for a time they *will* have money, but don't sign anything off in anticipation of a payment.

That's up to you. You are still the owner of the vehicle so anything happens, you will be on the hook.

I wouldn't do it. Let them wait till they have the money.

Payment in full, cash in hand, before you give someone the keys.

Just wait for all of it to come. So much risk involve for you.

So there's no way to work out a payment plan like what dealerships do?

Why do I get the feeling this will be like your SUV thread - where everyone advises you against something, but you go ahead and do it anyway... ?

No. Unless you want to go to small claims court and deal with the crap on the possibility he books it.

You seem to have a need to please this person. Is she hot?

Avoid this like the plague. I wouldn't even consider it unless it was my own brother. And even then I'd probably still tell my own brother to pound sand. You're gonna get fucked.:thumbsdow

You aren't a bank. Don't do it.

Either you take the buyer's money as a deposit to hold the car, or you ask for payment in full "when they get paid".

HHURICANE1

This is what I did for a bike I sold. Part payment now to hold it, when paid in full then you get the vehicle. NEVER, as a private sale, let the vehicle out of your possession until paid in full. What happens if he crashes it, it's not insured and says tough luck. You're stuck with a wrecked car and court fight on your hands. No cash, no car!

Okay I'll tell her to do a down payment then pick it up when paid in full, and I'll keep it in my possession

They can get a loan for the reminder. Cash, in hand is the only way to play.

Unless she is insanely hott and is willing to put out for the remainder of the sale...

It's only worth it if the chick lets you PIITB. and on video. Then when you recieve the rest of the payment you destroy video (or so you say).

I know some pretty hot grandmas. or "GILFs" if you will. As for the grenade, not worth it. Unless she can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.

Unknown303 has the right idea.

err you are going to find a bank to underwrite a loan on your jeep? Do you have any idea how buying a vehicle works?

Crowfoot Honda doesnt have 1,000,000 in outstanding loans. Bank approved loan, gives it to dealer, bank is responsible.

The dealer doesnt work out a payment with a client. They just are a middleman between a bank and you.

Remember to write on the receipt that it is a non-refundable deposit, and what date the remainder has to be paid by, or else the deposit will be forfeited. You don't want someone jerking you around for way longer than agreed, then asking for their deposit back.

I guess I'll ask her about the alternate forms of payment till it's paid in full, unless she's not hot, then she can either pay in full or b.) pound ice
