Actually, I believe there is a Sherman in downtown Vancouver as well. At least, there was several years ago. I'm pretty sure there must be a way to commission it back to service if the need arose...

theres a sherman outside the mewata armoury downtown and one at the military museums on crowchild, which btw on a side note i would like to know how and why there is a ex-soviet T-72 there lol

Fun fact: Canada has 114 Leopard C2 tanks, of which 66 are kept at battle readiness, the others are either parts salvage or standby/reserve/training.

They're slated for End of Life in 2015-2020, when we start getting Leopard 2 tanks from Germany and the Dutch.

Do you know how they are spread throughout Canada? per province?

Group buy anyone?

I read something somewhere a long time ago about being able to legaly purchace decommisioned tanks from Russia and the U.k and bring them into Canada for display/show purposes. My Dad in law also said he remembers Ritchie Bros auctions sold one years ago.

There are two major heavy armor bases in Canada, with a training base at CFB Gagetown in the Maritimes. The provinces where the tanks are are Alberta (Lord Strathcona's Horse at CFB Edmonton) and Ontario (the Royal Canadian Dragoons at CFB Petawawa). Quebec has a light armored regiment in the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada based at CFB Valcartier, Quebec City, with support facilities available for heavy armor if needed.

So, pretty much, Alberta and Ontario are the only two TRUE heavy armor provinces.
