can someone tell me what a 2003 civic sir will do in quarter mile here in calgary?

I thought P5 is now replaced with Mazda 3 GT?

Mazda 3 is a much better car anyway with 2.3L 160HP. Higher potential for mods. Interior is awesome to boot!

Yeah, which means the drivetrains in the MSP's are good for more power:thumbsup:

OT but:
I've seen a close-to-stock RSX premium run high-15's, so I'm guessing around there somewhere

Yes the Mazda 3 is a nice car, but compared to the MSP for modding, it's always nicer to start out WITH a factory FI car.
What kind of potential are you talking about :dunno:

actually, sport compact car stated that the transmission is the same as the base protege and output was limited by mazda to protect the tranny.

A friend of mine has one, we had a little 1/4 mile action on his dad's property -- WRX vs. Protege -- it was sad.

Needless to say, I was not impressed with the Mazda'speed'.

Gee, ya think?

If both cars had equal mods, the Protege would give the WRX a damn good run.

From a roll that is!

Decent cars from the factory + a few low-buck mods = Impressive MSP;)

Thats what all my FWD friends say and I laugh at them.

In all honesty, if I didn't get a good deal on this '02 WRX it was either a mazdaSPEED or a Spec-V -- both of which are super fun to drive, not WRX fun but fun.

So far, so good!

If that fails, STi 6spd swap(wishful thinking) or RA cryo-treated gearset(reality)

<---- knock on wood!

That's funny, I was looking at the WRX/Spec V when I was looking, but I didn't want to spend $40K on a car (new house upgrades were needed).
Basically the MSP was setup decent for handling/passing power from the factory, but not setup to win any races down the 1320. With what I've done to mine (total cost of approx. $120) I've run a best time of 14.327/best mph 97.17 @ SS. I'm guessing if I spend an extra grand or so on more mods, I *should* be running under 14 seconds/closer to 100mph....All from a car that had an MSRP of $28K
