P0299 - VW Code "Turbo under boosting"

So yet another problem with the Jetta...

Been about a week or so, I have been noticing the car has a lack of boost especially in the higher gears. Threw a code today finally confirming my boost leak concern. The code is P 0299 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Under Boosting.

Was wondering if anyone has had this problem, and what was the fix? I read probably diverter valve, but they said I should hear it, and I don't think I do..?? What should I be listening for?

What steps should I take to try and avoid taking it into the shop...

Any help would be great! Oh and its a 06 2.0T Jetta.

there is a recirculation valve on the bottom of your turbo, pull it out and see if the diaphragm is ripped.

will do....also after the wind calmed a bit I took it for another spin, when you put it to the floor there is nothing, then all this turbo whistle...then nothing...no power

It's just a boost leak, could be anything from the diverter to a damaged intercooler. Just do a boost leak test....

This one is for audi (and it's what I use on my car) but should work on your car too. Nothing gets much simpler then this.
