Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a car driven by a 17-year old woman on the driver’s side, sending her to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident occured just east of Rainbow Road on Highway 1A around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Constable Jeff Schneider of the Chestermere RCMP says the male driver was heading eastbound on Highway 1A driving a Dodge Caravan when he crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming car. The westbound car driven by the young woman was a silver Chrysler Intrepid.

The male driver who fled the scene on foot is described as a 40-50 year old Caucasian man, about 5’9″ tall and weighing about 170 lbs. He was wearing a dark hat and clothing, and may have a moustache. RCMP Police Dog Services attempted to track down the man, but were unable to locate him.

Chestermere RCMP are attempting to identify the man. If anyone has any information in this crime or any other please contact the Chestermere RCMP at (403) 207-8777 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the internet at www.tipsubmit.com. Crime stoppers will pay cash rewards up to $2000.00 for information that leads to an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or seizure of illegal drugs. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and the identity of the caller will remain anonymous.

I was wondering what the fuck happened there last night. Its seemed very odd that the car would go over a cement median and cream somebody else.

Hope they find the guy and figure out what the hell happened.

good luck to the woman in recovery.
